How Many Treatments Are Needed?
Most areas require six treatments. However, the number of treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors – hair thickness, the area treated, hormones and your hair’s growth cycle. Not all hairs actively grow simultaneously and undergo three distinct phases: growth, regression, and resting. Laser treatments work by disabling the hair that is principally in the active growth phase at the treatment time. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at different times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all hair follicles in a given area.
Treatment Details
Before any laser hair removal treatment, the area must be thoroughly shaved and grooming treatments that remove hair follicles, such as tweezing and waxing, be avoided. The hair slowly falls out for up to two weeks post-treatment and will remain clear until the next growth phase begins. Some patients need to exfoliate the treatment area to help encourage the hair to fall out and prevent irritation.
