PDO thread lift

what is a PDO thread lift?

Thread lifts are a procedure that uses a type of suture to lift selected areas of the face and jawline, smooth out wrinkles, and enhance facial contouring. PDO stands for polydioxanone, the material the sutures are made from. The threads provide a temporary lifting action, natural collagen production and a smoothing effect to the treated area.

about the procedure

Before starting the treatment, you will consult our expert physician, Dr Marie-Lousie Wessels, to determine what is best for you and to map out a plan for placing your threads. The insertion points are then treated with a local anaesthetic. Most people will feel some pressure but usually not pain. The threads are then fed under the skin using a cannula, which is similar to a thin IV tube. When the cannula is at the targeted endpoint, the thread is released, and the cannula is removed. This process is repeated until all threads are in place to achieve the desired result. The ends of the threads are then trimmed, and the area is massaged to ensure it is smooth.

You can expect to return to your normal activity level one to two days after the procedure. There is practically no downtime!

PDO threads can also be combined with dermal fillers for even more satisfactory results! Results last 12-24 months, depending on the area being treated and the number of threads used.
