Cosmelan Depigmentation & Melasma Treatment

The world’s leading depigmentation treatment and home-care product system, Cosmelan, is now available at Clear Skin Victoria. It is a treatment suitable for all skin types and pigmentation concerns, including melasma. This amazing 2 in 1 peel also helps with acne and acne scarring, rough or dry skin, general skin tone and anti-ageing. The Cosmelan treatment is a versatile process adapted to the needs of each individual.

Who can benefit from Cosmelan?

Anyone concerned with pigmentation, melasma, sun damage and hyperpigmentation caused by acne. Melasma can present itself as bilateral patches of uneven skin tone on cheeks, forehead and upper lip, whilst acne scars are often brown marks on the skin. Cosmelan is safe to be performed on new or stubborn pigment deposits, all ages, skin colours and ethnicities. It is generally performed on the face, neck, chest and back of hands.

What are the main benefits of Cosmelan?

You can achieve up to 95% reduction in pigmentation even in complex pigment cases like melasma.  This safe and non-invasive procedure treats the source of pigment formation and delivers you a brighter, clearer and more clarified luminous complexion. Most clients see a dramatic reduction after one in-clinic session supported by a comprehensive daily product protocol to take home.

How does the Cosmelan treatment work and what is involved?

This unique, multi-ingredient peel and homecare system contains very active skin brightening ingredients such as azelaic acid, kojic acid, arbutine, phytic acid and ascorbic acid. Not only will they dramatically treat and lighten existing pigmentation but also go one step further and inhibit tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for the production of melanin, giving your skin an extra line of defense in protecting itself against the formation of new pigmentation. By slowing down the production of new pigmentation, existing dark spots and discolouration will start to fade.

The Cosmelan Peel Procedure is a two-step process. The first step is an in-office application of the peel by one of our clinicians. The peel, which looks like a thick mask of peanut butter (so don’t plan a lunch date), will be left on the skin anywhere from 8-12 hours depending on the individual need, skin sensitivity and severity of the pigmentation. Later that evening you will rinse the mask off with cool water at home after the recommended amount of hours. The second part of the 6-month process will be continued at home after 48 hours, through the continued use of the Cosmelan home care depigmentation system.

This specialized system can deliver the following results:

  • A reduction in all types of skin pigmentation including melasma and post-inflammatory hyper-pigmentation

  • Increased skin luminosity

  • Equalization of skin tone

  • Inhibition of the formation of melanin

  • Increased collagen production
