Spider Veins
(Facial & Legs)

Sclerotherapy For Leg Spider Veins Now Available At Clear Skin Victoria.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure to treat spider veins. During the treatment, the visible abnormal veins will be injected with a solution that causes them to swell, collapse, and fade away.

Sclerotherapy is a safe procedure; patients are often allowed to return to normal activity the same day, with limited restrictions. To ensure the safest and fastest sclerotherapy recovery, there are four rules to follow:

  1. Wear compression stockings. In most cases, you should wear compression stockings for 2-3 weeks after the treatment. Dr Marie Louise Wessels will help you determine the degree of compression needed and how long you’ll have to wear them.
  2. Avoid the sun. Overexposure to the sun can cause your skin to age prematurely and develop spider veins. To allow your veins to heal properly, avoid sun exposure for at least two weeks and always wear a mineral sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher when you are outside.
  3. Avoid strenuous exercise. Sclerotherapy doesn’t usually require any downtime, and patients can walk immediately after treatment. However, plan to take it easy for a few days and avoid strenuous exercise for at least three days post-treatment
  4. . You should schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure proper healing and determine that no additional treatments are required.

Some leg veins can also be treated with our CoolGlide Excel Laser.  A consultation will determine the best treatment for your vascular condition.

Unsightly, spider veins and capillaries are one of the most common issues we treat at Clear Skin Victoria.  These progressive networks of small, cosmetic veins may be triggered by genetic factors, injury, sun exposure or underlying conditions and typically appear around the nose, cheeks, chin and legs. Our treatment options will reduce, eliminate and manage unwanted aesthetically bothersome vessels.
